Intentional or not, you nailed this one also. <br /><br />I practically worship <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bamboo" rel="nofollow">bamboo</a>. I was told that <i>sasa</i> is the only indigenous bamboo to Japan. All other varieties were imported, mostly from China, and mostly by Buddhist monks. <i>Sasa</i> is noted for being about knee high. A kind of <i>bonsai</i> bamboo. Island ecosystems are noted for flora and fauna that are, hmm, what should we say?, smaller than mainland equivalents. Here in SoCal we have the Channel Islands—long ago hosts to the oxymoronic “pygmy mammoths.”<br /><br />Think I’ll download your photos and add them to my <i>bamboo folder</i>. Whoopie!
