Coin Locker

The very retro coin locker at Shin Tokorozawa Station.

A lot of the newer coin lockers are mostly electronic, where you use a password and pay for it on your commuters pass.

But this coin locker is from the good old days when you had to carry the key around with you and pay for it in 100yen coins.

How will about becoming the all convenience?
Does it seem to be Japan that an old thing disappears steadily?

I remember using coin lockers like that in Nagoya! Older is sometimes better! Just don't lose the key...

Are these the ones where the coins don’t drop until you turn the key? What? These are retro now? But of course, it’s like Sushi says in his second sentence above.

What if a person wants to use a new electronic version but is merely a traveler without a commuter pass? IO card? Suica? Something newer?

Sushi, I think Japan is always ready for something new, but at the same time appreciates the old :)

Leif Hagen, yes you definately want to hold on to that key! :)

Tall Gary, I think you can use bills for the new ones...not exactly sure! Will let you know when I find out :)

Gogouci, thank you for the comment! I was all over the locker ;)

Vogon Poet, thank you! I like the colors of the lockers myself ;D
