This is the yummy Yakiimo!
This baked sweet potato is made from a type of potato made specifically for Yakiimo. It has thin skin so you can eat it whole. We usually break the Yakiimo in half and eat from the middle. The Yakiimo truck comes around Tokorozawa Station everyday from 6pm-8pm. You can buy a couple of nice Yakiimo for about 500yen.
My favorite Yakiimo song

It's been a while I haven't heard yakiimo seller. This should be its time when the air gets colder, isn't it? I have a special memory first time encountered yakiimo. The sound brought me back to my hometown :).
Kaori, happy weekend and have fun.
I was wondering what it was. Now that I know, it looks yummy! And very healthy too, I hear, as long as its boiled and you don't add sugar. :)
Oh, Simone White is of Venice. I drive through Venice about once a month on the way to a shakuhachi lesson. (I played “Haru no Umi” for friends last night . The koto part was from a kind of karaoke version of the piece).
Although a video of Simone’s resonantly melancholic song can be seen at her site which you kindly led us to, it might be easier for some to go directly to it by clicking YouTube here.
Have you heard the yakiimo “gospel” version?
never tasted one ..i'd like to ;)
Absolutely, totally yummy!
Yes VERY cold, henny! But I hope you have a lovely weekend too!
Hilda, I never thought about it but you may be right, it is healthy. We don't add anything to the sweet potato, just baked to the core!
Tall Gary, oh they have it on youtube too? That's great! It must be popular ;) The gospel version? Wow :D
Babzy, you're going to have to go out and find some ;D
