How do you do it? That top photo is about a thousand times better than Google maps.
It might be a bit strange (actually not) but here in the States I so seldom find places I would like to live. But in Japan they are all over the place. What is it about the Japanese sense of space and place that is so appealing?
THese are just lovely. I love seeing Japan's older structures -- I'm used to seeing images of the shiny modern buildings of Tokyo. Kind of like how people around the world rarely see the pictures of Los Angeles that aren't beach or Beverly Hills.

I really like the older neighborhoods of Japan — so much more character than the newer, western designs found in certain parts of Tokyo.
Love the details of the fence :)

it has so much japanese feel to it.
Your photo reminds me of some old house in Gero! Great theme day posting!
very nice wooden fence. i like wooden fences but they do have maintenance requirements
Both are great images: the top one is so picturesque and the details of the second one are impressive.
Excellent post, spot on the theme of the day!
I came to see your CDP photo and stayed to look at some of your older posts. Great blog, I will be back.
The top photo has so much character and gives a feeling of place, and I love the fence close-up below.
