Took a walk and stopped by Akitsu Fure-ai Park, a local garden cemetery. I'm not sure but I think it's a pretty new concept here in Japan. The non-religious cemetery is very peaceful, filled with flowers and plants.
I found this particular headstone interesting because of the picture next to the family name "Kobayashi." Maybe the person buried here liked to go sailing.

so beautiful...wonderful reflections...It just so happens that I spent some time photographing a local cemetery this morning with my husband. Very different architecture to the memorials...but beautiful in their own way.
Tama Cemetery in Fuchu City has been around since early in the last century. But it is less a garden and more of a huge cedar grove in places. Like your lovely Akitsu Fureai Garden Cemetery Park, it is non religious: That is, it is not connected with any specific temple.

This is a beautiful grave indeed... I like to discover on your blog an another part of Japan, more intimate, very far from the tourist usual views...
Interesting, indeed. «Louis», a sailor-wannabe, likes this.
What a beautiful shot and an unusual cemetery.
Darryl and Ruth : )
Even the dead would rather be sailing. Oops, is that black humor? :-D Nice images, Kaori... I do have an attraction to cemeteries.
Good Lord: the name is familiar to me. Is it widespread?
My father used to negociate contracts with Kobayashis.

Nice. I like the pink with the gray.
In my mind Kobayashi will be forever the shady lawyer in 'The Usual Suspects'!

The sailboat is nice on the Kobayashi gravestone but, in all honesty, I kind of envy the decoration on the grave statue of Victor Noir in Paris.
