Winter season without ice skating is like Christmas without a tree.
Growing up watching every national and international figure skating competition in the United States, I always wanted to be Kristi Yamaguchi and secretly thought that Victor Petrenko was kinda hot. And although I could never manage to throw myself into the air to do a jump or get all bendy and do a Biellmann spin, I've always loved skating and go to the rink every chance I get.
The skating rink at Seibu-en Amusement Park is open from 10am-4pm on weekdays and 10am-9pm on weekends. I'm seriously considering getting a season pass.

Kaori - my dad used to flood our backyard when I was a kid and all the neighbor boys would come over to play hockey. We did regular ice skating with my sister and the girls of the neighborhood!
Now I'm waiting for our outdoor rink to open in Eagan - maybe it is already!

All that fancy figure skating stuff really isn’t all that difficult. It’s just a matter of doing some simple warm up exercises first, like here. ; )

Oh, Kaori... I was just telling my niece how I loved skating as a kid growing up in Finland, and how I never needed to go a rink because the neighborhood would open up and freeze a space in an open field close to home. And I suppose that was similar to Lief's experience... in Norway? Now I'm averse to the cold, but I sure understand your fascination...
I think the last time I went ice skating was the time we went for a "field trip" in 7th grade. I really want to go though again.
We used to have an ice skating rink here, but we don't anymore. I always loved taking my kids, especially at Christmas!
I think many skaters would have loved to be Kristi Yamaguchi!

I've only ever skated on ice once, a long time ago. Loved it.
Now I stay on land with my roller blades.
