Sparkling Summer Memories
This photo is blurry, I know. But fireworks are such a big part of summer in Japan, I wanted to post it anyway!
You really can't start or finish summer without fireworks. And although going to a fireworks festival is also a fun event, there's nothing like a night of sparklers with family and friends in your back yard or the local park.
All you need is a candle and a bin of water to put the sparklers in after you finish.
There are many types of sparklers but you can enjoy the sudden brightness of the crackling fireworks, the smell of smoke (which keep the mosquitos away), and the fun memories you make with any one you light up!

That bottom photo has me all starry eyed. A really clever and talented photo.
My favorites were senkô hanabi (like bonsai fireworks) and the dragonfly トンボ花火 guys like here.
Love the stars
Very nice shots! Fireworks are fun to photograph.
I love the last picture! Cool...
Slow speed....

I love sparklers, now I want to get some! I like your photos, especially that last one.
funny, just watched a japanese episode that has a hanabi theme on it.
you familiar with hotaruno hikari? ^-^
and three bright, sparkling stars...wOw! ^0^
I used to love them as a child.
I love all of these, but the last one is great!
Hi all, thank you for the comments! I'm glad you liked the firework photos. We had a lot of fun making stars :D
Tall Gary, we always end with senko hanabi, too. It has a calming effect and although it's not as bright as the others, it's just as mesmerizing ;D
Arabesque, are you talking about the movie or the TV show? The movie is a tear jerker but the TV show is suppose to be pretty funny, although I haven't seen it yet ;D
Love that last shot! And how fun!
What a fun series of photos - «Louis» particularly liked the stars they were making with the sparklers.
Cool! The only time we get to see sparklers around here is during New Year. But sparklers in the summer sounds like a cool idea :)
