Holiday Warmth
It's kind of warm today. Very weird weather we've been having.
But it was a great day to sit outside for awhile with something warm. These seats outside are a part of the Anderson bakery shop at Shin Tokorozawa Parco. They have delicious bread and pasteries here.
Plus you can enjoy the christmas lights outside, too!

Twinkle Twinkle
There were twinkling stars everywhere at Parco, the shopping mall in Shin Tokorozawa.
I was on one of the bridges that connects the Parco Bldg to the Let's Bldg. You can see another set of bridges on the otherside. There were a lot of people on that bridge admiring the christmas lights, too!

Magic Tree
Well, I'm not really sure what this Hamamelis Japonica plant looks like in full bloom. But I'm guessing it did not grow this glove...

Thriller Bridge
The stairs of this pedestrian bridge was very blue.
Not very many people were using it when I passed it. Maybe because everytime a truck would drive by, the whole bridge would kind of bounce and shake...not the greatest feeling when you're on it.

P-P-P-Parking Space
I know the parking lot sign is suppose to represent a car.
But to me, it looks like a UFO. Doesn't it?
Anyways, this is the three story parking lot for the shopping center, Parco. On the weekends cars line up on the street, waiting for parking space. Usually it's the dad waiting in the car, watching TV on the car navigation, while the rest of the family get a head start on their shopping spree!

Bridge Under the Roof
I forgot about the small bridge they have at Shin Tokorozawa Parco. It connects the Parco Bldg and the Let's Bldg on the second and third floors.
Below you can see one of my favorite flower shops!

Shameless Statue
Some of you may remember Taiko Bridge in front of the restaurant Marufuku Shokudo I posted awhile ago here. Well, this is what your feet will see when you cross the bridge!
And look what I found in the middle of the pond!

Cool Running

I love seeing people do their thing while waiting for the light to turn green!
Some people practice their golf swing, some just tap their feet to some tune, and some stretch every muscle in their body.
Like this jogger here, who ran like the wind the minute the light turned green.

Retro is Back

This is one of my favorite buildings, the Shin Tokorozawa South Plaza. You can see the building in color here.

Bright Splash of Color

One of my favorite things at a matsuri (festival) are the Yo-yo water balloons!
You have to try to pull the balloons up with a paper hook, something I've never been able to do. Usually after a couple of tries, they just end up giving me the balloon!

Cross Over to Eat
This is a small bridge at the entrance of the restaurant Marufuku Shokudo (まるふく食堂).
You can see some of their menu in the display. Marufuku Shokudo is a popular izakaya for locals, and they serve everything from noodles to sashimi. It's a great place to enjoy Japanese food!

Yum Yum Yum!
This was my parfait I had at the restaurant chain, Bikkuri Donkey.
A very Japanese parfait, filled with white dumplings, sesame seed rice cracker, and green tea bavarian cream. It was delicious!
Bikkuri Donkey (which means "surprised donkey") has a huge menu you can order from. It always takes me forever to figure out what I want. But that's okay because the restaurant is open from 11am to 2am, which gives me plenty of time to ponder over the menu.

Pasta at Popolamama's
Being a vegetarian in Japan can be quite difficult at times. Especially since the concept of someone not eating meat or fish is still not common here. I get the 'so...what DO you eat?' question often.
Which is why I love pasta so much because it's easy to find or ask for a vegetarian dish! I had the Penne Cheese Cream Sauce with Black Pepper (above) and my friend got the Carbonara with Bacon and Egg (below).
Popolamama first opened in 1995 and now has over 100 chain restaurants in Japan. This is the Popolamama in Shin Tokorozawa.
They are known for the use of fresh pasta made from Durum Semolina Wheat. Not that I know what that is...but I can tell you that the pasta is really good!
This place is also really popular with the college crowd as all the dishes are inexpensive but have plenty of volume. So if you're ever hungry for quick plate of pasta, this is the place to go!

Shin Tokorozawa South Plaza
Shin Tokorozawa South Plaza is a nine story apartment building with a couple of retail floors. It stands right outside Shin Tokorozawa Station.
This building was built in 1973, which in Japan is pretty ancient for an apartment building, but I like the round-shaped balcony that each unit has.

Hmmm, I guess I do too. Well, for today.

Decorate the Sky
Just happened to glance up at the sky after getting off the Shin Tokorozawa Station.
Sometimes the telephone poles and other wires can get in the way. But other times, like this, it can decorate a view.
Happy weekend everyone!
