Bark Mosaic

This is one of the trees standing along the street where the bench from yesterday is located.

I though the coloration and texture of the tree bark was interesting. Does anyone know what kind of tree it is? Sycamore?

Yes. It is a beautiful mosaic. It would be a good pattern for a nihon-ga painting.

Sycamore was certainly my first guess but I’m going to go for Japanese Zelkova. After all, as a tree, it is a symbol of Saitama Prefecture: Zelkova serrata.

sorry, have no idea either, but looking at it closely gives me goosebumps! ^0^

Cool, Kaori. Really like shots like this. Lived with a landscape architect for ten years and still don't know the difference between a pine and a cypress... so I can't help in the ID game.

this too will pass said...

great textures

I am so ignorant about trees, but you got a very creative couple of shots with a perfect title!

Haha you notice the quirkiest things! I dunno if I would have noticed this myself. This natural mosaic is pretty :)
