Crossing the Rails

It's already November? Cannot for the life of me figure out how that happened so fast.

Well, it's theme day again at CDP. This month the theme is "Public Transportation." Here in Tokorozawa we don't really use anything unusual. Mostly trains, cars, and buses.

There are two train lines that go through Tokorozawa Station. As these train lines are on the ground, we have many railroad crossings like this one. During the rush hour we can be left standing there for almost 10 minutes.

But I don't really mind because I like watching the trains go by as all sorts of lights and sounds warn people of the passing train. It's quite a show.

Hi Kaori, nice pics - those pink lights against the blue sky works really well.

I would have never thought about shooting the lights of a railroad crossing! A very original and good idea, perfectly realized with these fine pictures. About the passing of trains, your master director Yasujiro Ozu said it all in his wonderful movies.

Unfortunately, most of our trains carry freight not people.

I like your creative take on the theme!

I love trains, but unfortunately we only have freight trains here. The tracks run near my house and I always love hearing the train go by, especially at night!

I always enjoy being stopped when a train passes. It is a kind of show. I really like your night shot of this crossing. Great choice for the theme day!

I miss riding the trains in Japan - especially the Shinkansen! I loved public transportation in Japan!

Lovely pics. Waiting for train for only ten minutes sounds luxurious. We sometimes only have trains once every half hour.

In my opinion, these "forced stops" are to be used, to breath, to rest a while, think and ask oneself questions.

Always a safe road ahead for you and a good Tuesday as well.

I like the night shots as well. What's the red arrow mean?

Great night shots, perfect post for this theme day. I wish we had more public transportation where I live.

T, the arrow points which way the train will be going towards :-D

Creative post for the theme, Kaori! For reasons I can't explain, these moody shots made me think of Murakami's novel After Dark.

Great Theme Day post. Mine is up on November 1 at Portland Oregon Daily Photo; it’s a photo that I took on the Portland, Oregon, MAX Light Rail last Saturday.
