When I went out the other day, I noticed Yakumo Shrine getting ready for a festival. These festive lanterns were put up above the street leading to the shrine.
I didn't get to see the actual fire ceremony but it seems the festival lasted well into the night. Here they are still celebrating with the traditional drums and flutes. I really love the sounds at a festival!

I love that music too. Thanks for the link. The flutes really send me and the drums and bells really make things festive. Even after I watched and listened to the Tokorozawa Festival from last October that you linked us to I still wanted, like VP, to hear the Yakumo Shrine music. It’s interesting that the horizontally-arranged kanji characters on the lanterns in your top photo read in the pre-WWII style—from right to left (just like the way we read the vertical kanji). It makes it more traditional.
The chiaroscuro in your bottom photo is just great.
With strikes going on over here, this was surely a much needed escape, and vocabulary exercise as well. Thank you very much ! Please have a great Friday.
