Shinin' on Eve

So once again, it doesn't seem like we're getting a white Christmas. But the cloudy rainy weather cleared and it's going to be sunny skies this whole weekend, yay!

Christmas in Japan is for mainly couples and children. Couples go out on romantic dates and kids get presents, Christmas cake, and Kentucky Fried Chicken. It's all very commercial, not that it's a bad thing or anything. I love all the flair of Christmas decorations and songs we get around the city this season.

The number of Christians living in Japan is very few. Of the whole population in Japan, it's said that there are less than 1% who are Christians. I think the most recent number was around 0.7%, which is roughly 1.2 million people. For them, it's also a time to celebrate the birth of Christ with family, friends, and other church members.

But regardless of religion, I do hope everyone has a happy Christmas Eve today!

Take a look at more beautiful skies all around the world here.

I'm not sure if you celebrate Christmas, but if so have a very merry one! And in any case enjoy the sunny skies over your beautiful city.

Interesting information, funny how 1% can equal so many people (I know, not many compared to the total population)! Kentucky Fried Chicken - I haven't heard that before! :) Lovely composition with the temple(?) roof. Sunny skys here too. Whatever you may celebrate, I wish you happiness!

Merry Christmas!

That candy-cane colored poinsettia sure is appropriate for Christmas

I couldn’t get into the FT site link without signing in but found it here. Then found a video of a two-hour queue in front of a KFC here (if anyone is interested, 2:58). I don’t understand, though. Why don’t all those people in line look like this?

And look who was making KFC commercials in 1986! 若いね!

«Louis» is amused that the Japanese Christmas custom includes a trip to KFC! He's also happy to see you have blue skies. Christmas day is cloudy and rainy here in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Christmas blessings to you, Kaori.

If I were there, I totally would have brought you out on a date to KFC. ;)

So Christmas in Japan isn't different of any part of the world. but I would like to know what kind of food they eat in that time.
