From Afar

There is a bridge that leads to the intake tower at Yamaguchi Reservoir, also known as Lake Sayama.

The intake tower was built in 1934, the same year as the completion of the reservoir. It is said to be 35.2 meters tall, although you can only see 1/3 of it above water.

Would have loved to get a close up but only authorized people are allowed on the bridge. Darn.

I love the first shimmery shot. A very different type of bridge--but still a bridge. MB

You present such interesting things in your blog! I've never heard of an intake tower (but I don't live near water either).

You have found a quite unusual bridge in a very interesting location. It's a pity you can't get any closer...

well, at least you don'thave random people spoiling the photo by walking on the bridge!

Lovely silver tones. The tower looks like a castle turret.

Hi everyone! Thank you for all the comments! I'm really enjoying seeing everyone's bridge photo on Louis la Vache's Sunday Bridges :D

Ann, the tower has a pump that pulls the water out and it has a pipe along the bridge that takes the water to a pool nearby!
