Favorite Fall Fruit

I forgot to post photos of when I when I went fruit u-picking, this time "Nashi (梨)!"

Nashi is what we call Japanese Pears, although they are more like apples. They are really crunchy and juicy, which is why I love them!

Like the grapes, the Nashi were also wrapped to protect the fruit and we would have to rip the bottom of the bag open to look inside to see which one we wanted to pick (although there's really no need to actually "pick" any because all of them are well-made)!

The lady in the photo above told us that the Nashi this year were small compared to recent years. But they look pretty big to me! Yum!

I love those places where you can pick your own fruit. Those apples/pears look delicious! I am craving one now. :)

Big pears. We have nashi pears at the supermarket - I'm going to get some soon. I have forgotten what they taste like.

The color and textures in the top photo are nice. We can see the horizontal cable trellis and get an idea how labor intensive Japanese orchards are in the middle photo. The two nashi in the bottom photo look huge to me but I guess they can sometimes get pretty big: Like here and here.

If anyone is in the neighborhood there is an English website here. As we can see from the directions it’s not so far from the famous Kotesashi Station.

I love them. Last eaten back home in Germany. Thank you for the memories. Please have a good Thursday.

Wow, that is small compared to last year, then I can only imagine how big they must have been then.

I don't think I have ever tried any, but I'm sure it must be good. =)

We can get these in both China and the Philippines. We call them apple-pears and they are crunchy and juicy. YUM. Seeing them covered on the tree I now understand why they always look so perfect.
