Red Overhead

Nodate Parasol is a outdoor parasol commonly seen in temples and shrines. This particular type is called Tsumaore, which uses these colorful threads to weave the middle part.

This was used at Tamon Temple to shade people sitting on the benches outside.

Note cards please! This is fabulous. Love the vibrant color.

I don’t know why but this makes me think of a wedding ceremony. But those are at shrines not temples.

Are these hand made, or is there a factory that does these? The intricacy is beautiful ...

If you go to Tamon Temple with a special friend can you still sit under that umbrella? I see that it is called a “no date” umbrella. Right up my alley.

Long ago, we used this as an umbrella.

Tall Gary, well I think they are often used in weddings, too! (No-date...good one! haha)

Chuck Pefley, yes these are handmade by professional craftsmen!
