The Night

A quiet night after a hectic week.

Friday nights are usually for going out. But it's nice to have some downtime once in a while. Have a great weekend everyone!

Take a look at different skies all around the world here.

I love the gradations of color in the sky and that the sky predominates. The scene looks so quiet but I find myself straining to hear a few sounds to offset the silence: A distant train clackitying softly; dinner noises and aromas from a neighbor’s open window; a passing motorcycle.

What music were you listening to?

I listened to a Japanese version of the following Chinese song from the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907) tonight. It reminded me of the atmosphere in this photo. I could only find this, appropriately enough, Chinese version of Parting at Yangguang Pass. Doesn’t it sound quite a bit like soprano sax? Is this what Kenny G has been channelling all these years? The lyrics of the song are based on a Wang Wei (王維) poem:

The morning rain at Weicheng dampens the light dust,
The inn is green with the color of new willows.
The gentlemen urgently offer up one more cup of wine.
Going west to Yangguan there will be no old acquaintances.

I completely agree. And I am really hoping that I will not be forced to go out this weekend.

Beautiful sky!
