Off The Track

There is a D51 steam locomotive on display at Kotesashi Park.

This D51-118 steam locomotive was put together in the city of Kobe on July 30, 1938. It was then transported to Hokkaido prefecture and ran in various districts for 38 years until it retired in 1976. It ran a total of 2,419,862 kilometers, which is about 60 laps around the earth.

A very hardworking locomotive, don't you think?

That's a lot of miles! I love old locomotives, and it's a great contrast to the cherry tree.

I don't know if this is a record of any sort, but it is surely a huge accomplishment!

I'm a train lover, so love this photo. Agree with the other -- wonderful contrast between the soft blossoms and hard steel.

At first I was thinking that this would be one train platform that wouldn’t be crowded during rush hour; but, now, after seeing your splendid photo, I think you might create your own kind of rush hour of so many people who want to visit Kotesashi Park “Station.”

Heehee, sorry, that was the first thing that came to my mind. I love the contrast of the locomotive and the delicate cherry blossoms. Beautiful composition.
