This is the exterior wall of the pastry shop, Emile.
Today is White Day in Japan, a day for the guys to give something to the girls. Kind of like a return for Valentine's Day.
I forgot all about it and wanted to stop by to buy a slice of cake, but the shop was packed with people. So I couldn't get a photo of their delicious cake, but I thought I'd show their lovely wall.
Happy White Day!

A pâtisserie in Japan and with a very nice graffiti outside. I hope you'll get this famous cake sooner or later, and maybe show us a picture of it.
I'm intrigued by White Day. Do the guys not give Valentines?
I love this wall. I'd like a dress with fabric printed like it!
That is pretty! We just have Valentine's Day here and both guys and girls give gifts on that day. I think I might like White Day though.
Because I’m from a different culture it seems weird to me for Valentine’s Day to be the time when only women give chocolate (and other gifts) to men, with the men only recipients, not givers. Some Wikipedia information on White Day here. Even when I lived in Japan I couldn’t get my head around that particular gender discrimination and gave gifts to sweethearts on Valentine’s Day. Unless I got some giri choco at work on Valentine’s Day I would ignore White Day.
These days I like the idea of the Korean Black Day.
Laurie, like Tall Gary says, we do have Valentine's Day in February, but it's a day when the girls give the guys something. And in turn, we have White Day in March, where the guys give back to the girls.
Like Tall Gary says, it might seem a bit like gender discrimination, but then again, the guys definately end up spending more money on gifts for girls. We make homemade cookies, they give us Godiva or something like that.
It's all very commercialized. But I'm a sucker for any holiday, so I tend to get into the whole hype :)
Is there any other country that celebrates white day I wonder
Lovely mural and a very sweet custom too!
nice wall indeed !
happy white day! haha! ^0^
i hope you got gifts from hot guys...
kidding aside, the wall looks fantastic and i'm loving the signage! kawaii-desu-ne. ^0^
ps: i hope you can show us their cake sometime, i'm curious what it looks like.
Mo, I'm not sure but I think South Korea has something similar!
Thank you everyone for the comments! I'll be sure to get a photo of the delicious cake next time :)
A white day, must be Interesting, and challenging indeed for the men part.. And this wall shows that it must be a special day.. great one..
Home-made cookies are from the heart. Godiva is from the wallet. I’m still kind of curious. What kind of return did you get on White Day for your home-made-cookie investments?
