Reflection on the Monument

This is a monument given to Tokorozawa from the local Tokorozawa Rotary Club, in honor of the city being the 'birthplace of aviation in Japan.' The words 'A Tokorozawa Filled With Culture' are written on the monument, under the drawing of the first airplane to take flight in Japan, the Henri Farman Biplane, in 1910.

How very beautiful. I love this photo with its straight lines and mysterious reflection--what a lovely choice for Reflections Weekend.

In a way this is a double reflection ... the beautiful physical one and a historical reflection as well.

How beautiful - I thought the trees on the sign were part of the sign until I saw the reflection.

Great capture! I too thought that the trees were part of the engraving. Beautiful shot. Kathy

Great juxtaposition between modern and old design.
And very good composition - the reflection is perfectly aligned.

«Louis» is forwarding the link to this post to Leif Hagen at Eagan Daily Photo. Leif is very active in the Rotary there. «Louis» is not currently a member of the Rotary, but has been in the past and still admires the work they do around the world.

Great to see some Rotary accomplishments in Japan, too! I stayed with some Rotary families while I was a teacher in Gero, Gifu-ken in 1990!
